DIY - oorbellen/earrings: 'the Snail and the Turtle'

Toen ik deze ringen zag liggen in La Droguerie in Parijs (#nosponsor), kon ik er niet aan weerstaan. Het materiaal van deze ringen - een soort van namaakschildpad - zie ik tegenwoordig overal opduiken in juwelen. 

De ringen bleken net in de vierkanten te passen dus zocht ik een manier om ze aan mekaar vast te maken. Dat bleek te lukken met een techniek die ik in een andere bezigheid van me gebruik: ik gebruikte namelijk de macraméwikkelknoop! 

When I saw these rings at La Droguerie in Paris (#nosponsor), I couldn't resist them. This material - a kind of fake turtle -  is very popular in jewellery designs nowadays.

The rings did fit perfectly in the squares, so I needed a way to connect them. 

I found the perfect technique for doing that in another activity I like to do: I used the macramé wrapping knot! 

BENODIGDHEDEN/SUPPLIES

materiaal/material

• 2 x 1 nepschildpadring/fake turtle ring
• 2 x 1 vierkant/square
• 2 x 2 nietstiften/head pins
• 2 x 1 slakkenhuisje/snail house
• stukje macramékoord/piece of macramé cord
• 2 x 2 open ringetjes/jump rings
• oorhaakjes/ear wire

gereedschap/tools

• 2 platbektangen/2 flat nose pliers
• rondbektang/round nose pliers
• kniptang/cutting pliers
• schaar/scissors

ZO MAAK JE HET/DIY

Leg de ring in het vierkant, het gaatje in de ring in het midden van 1 van de hoeken. Bevestig de ring aan het vierkant met een wikkelknoop. Hier kan je lezen hoe je dat doet. 

Lay the ring in the middle of the square, the hole in the ring in a corner of the square. Attach the ring onto the square with a wrapping knot. Here you can read how to make a wrapping knot. 

Rijg het slakkenhuisje aan een nietstift, hang het aan het oogje van de schildpadring en maak een gesloten oogje. 
String the snail house onto a head pin, attach it onto the hole in the turtle ring and make a wrapped loop. 

Bevestig een oorhaakje aan het vierkant met 2 ringetjes.

Attach ear wire onto the square by using the jump rings. 

Et voila! Klaar!

Et voila! Done!
