We're All Ears : July's Challenge: Cheers to July + DIY

free jewerly tutorial

I must admit I'm a bit departed from this month's theme with the pictures I made. But I liked this picture so much! It finally rained after a few weeks of dry and warm weather and the tiles of my garden stairs where nicely wet and I found a beautiful dry leaf et voila, this picture is the result.

This month's team in the challenge is 'your favorite summer drink'. The blog post contains a list with examples: fruity cocktails and summery soft drinks. But when I looked at this theme, I could't deny that my absolute favorite summer drink is ... ice ice ice cold tap water with ice cubes...

These days I always have a refillable bottle in my freezer, half filled with water turned into ice. When I'm thirsty, I add freshly tapped water. As a result of that the bottle gets covered in condens and then I swallow that ice cold water with great pleasure. I really like this at hot summer days.

So I designed a pair of earrings inspired by ice cubes and condensation and water and this is the result...

For these earrings I first made a wirewrapped pendant. I started with a large piece of metal wire and strung - in the middle of the piece of metal wire - 1 small seed bead + 1 drop bead + 1 small seed bead.
I shaped it into a bow and wrapped each end of wire around the big circle.

Keep on wrapping the wire a big further around the ring...

String 5 small seed beads +1 drop bead onto one of both pieces of metal wire.

String 5 small seed beads onto the other piece of wire.

And go through the same drop bead as before.

Take each piece of wire through the other 5 seed beads.

Wrap the wire a few times around the ring. Repeat this at the other side.

String 5 seed beads and go through the same drop bead from before.

Herhaal dit aan de andere kant.

Repeat this at the other side.

Go through the 5 seed beads of the other side.

Wrap - at each side -  the wire around the ring.

String a larger seed bead, wrap the wire around the ring, again string a seed bead and keep on doing this until you reached the bottom of the ring. Repeat this at the other side.

Repeat this in opposite direction and cut the loose ends.

String onto a head pin or eye pin 1 tube bead + 1 star bead + 1 faceted glass bead.

Maak aan elke kant een oogje. Ze wijzen in tegenovergestelde richting.

Make a loop at each side - each one pointing in opposite direction.

Attach onto the loop of the pendant.

En tenslotte nog het oorhaakje en klaar!

Attach ear wire and done!

Aren't they refreshing, these earrings?

  4. What a coincidence! My favourite drink is water as well - without ice ofcourse. Beautiful earrings that represent the frost of freezer water

  5. Water is a favorite here too. It's about all I drink each and every day (after I get a few cups of coffee in my system). These reflect the idea of a refreshing glass of ice water beautifully!

    1. I also like some other drinks, like coke zero. But in summer I prefer ice cold water!
