DIY - hang eens een huis aan je oren/a house on your ears

DIY - hang eens een huis aan je oren/a house on your ears

And today I show you a project I made with this material.
I like being at home, so I thought: why not hanging some houses at my ears?
So I did....
At first I felt a bit insecure wearing them: wouldn't it be too silly - for me as an almost 50 years old woman - to wear earings like that?
But now and then those almost 50 years brought me some sprankles of wisdom like that no matter how old, what figure and which position you're in, you are always aloud to wear what you want.
A principle I sometimes defend with a lot of fire as shown at the picture above. It is a picture from a manifestation for the right to wear what you want, even boerkini's if you want to. The sign I'm holding says: 'mind your own business' .
So after the first feelings of insecurety,  I now wear them a lot ;)...

First make the shrink plastic pendants. Therefor draw - with pencil and ruler - 2 houses on a piece of shrink plastic.
At the picture you see the size of my houses before baking them. After baking they measured 3 at 1,5 cm.

Draw it again, but this time with permanent marker. The roof is filled with 'l's...

Knip de huisjes uit.
Cut the houses...

Make holes at the top of the roof.

This picture shows a white line at the edge of the houses. Fix that with the permanent marker.

Bake the houses as explained in the instructions of the shrink plastic.

After baking the houses are not only smaller but also thicker. I preferred a black edge so I carefully fixed that with the permanent marker.
Before assembling them to earrings I waited quite a while to be sure the drawing was dry. Maybe I was to carefull, but I prefer to wait long above unwanted spots on my drawings.
If you want, you can fix them before using them for earrings. I didn't ...

The pendants are done. Now you can start assembling...
Thread the bead onto an eye or head pin or a piece of metal wire and make loops at each end in opposite direction.

Attach house and ear wire onto the loops and you have one earring...

Zo.

I hope that this project gave you enough inspiration to make your own things with shrink plastic :).

  2. Mooi! Dragen wat je zelf wilt dragen, no matter what!

    1. Ohhhhh!

  5. I think these earrings are super cute. When people can wear Tshirts with pictures of kids or pets, why can't you wear a house? I feel that age should not be a restriction when it comes to having fun through fashion
